Professor Lisa Shapiro (McGill) will present work on early modern feminism, focusing on Gabrielle Suchon's account of womanhood. Lynne Tirrell (University of Connectictuct) will present work on the kinds of counter-speech that are needed to resist oppression and extremism. Shapiro's talk will be in French with an English translation projected on a screen; Tirrell's talk will be in English.
