In line with this year’s theme of Sustaining shared futures, McGill University offers multiple sustainable transit options for getting around Congress. We encourage individuals to ‘Travel Smarter. Cleaner. Better.’ by considering alternatives to single occupancy vehicle commuting such as cycling, transit, and carpooling. For more information, view McGill’s Sustainable travel webpage and Travel guide.

Public transit

McGill is well situated with two STM stations (McGill and Peel) and local transit buses servicing the campus daily. Explore the ‘Maps’ section of the STM website for a system map, a metro station map, neighborhood maps for each metro station, and a nighttime bus system map.

We encourage attendees to familiarize themselves with the 4 Days 4 Lines metro station posters that outline to what degree stations are accessible to those with reduced mobility.

Cycling

Cycling is an efficient and sustainable way to get around Congress. View the following resources to learn more:

Parking

Please note that parking at McGill University is extremely limited.  Access to the Main Campus parking area (entrance located at the corner of Milton and University Street) is restricted between 6:00 and 17:00 on weekdays and during special events

To request a parking spot or an accessible parking spot on the main campus during Congress, please send a message to the Events team (events@federationhss.ca) with the following details (name of requestor and how long you will need to park as well as who will pay for the parking) by May 31, 2024 so a request can be placed with McGill.  Please note that spots are booked on a first come first serve basis.

The daily parking fee on campus at Congress is $21/day from 7:00 to 22:00.

There are several options available for parking off-campus which include the MNI/McGill Sports complex (3801 University), Loto Quebec parking (500 Sherbrooke St. West) or Indigo Lot (2001 McGill College Ave).  The Montreal Parkopedia website provides additional information about parking near the downtown campus, including several private non-McGill parking lots and garages open to the public.
