Accessibility statement

Last Updated: August 12, 2025

The Federation strives to ensure that our website is accessible and easy to use for everyone. In doing so, the Federation has a goal to comply with applicable accessibility standards included in the W3C's WCAG 2.1 guidelines.

Measures taken

  • We built this website to be WCAG 2.0 compliant;
  • It has since been updated with the goal to be WCAG 2.1 AA conformant;
  • We are providing continual accessibility training for our team;
  • We are integrating accessibility into our procurement practices.
  • We conduct accessibility testing of this website against WCAG 2.1 AA conformance at regular intervals, using both automated and manual testing methods.

Conformance status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. The Federation is fully conformant with WCAG 2.0 level AA. Fully conformant means that the content fully conforms to the accessibility standard without any exceptions.

Limitations

The Federation continues our efforts to constantly improve the accessibility of our website in the belief that it is our collective obligation to allow seamless, accessible, and unhindered use also for those of us with disabilities. Despite our efforts to make all pages and content fully accessible, some content may fall short of accessibility. This may be a result of not having found or identified the most appropriate technological solution.

Certain PDF documents across the site are not fully accessible yet. We are working to bring them into compliance. If you need a PDF document to be prioritized, please let us know at contact@federationhss.ca.

Your feedback is important

Please be aware that our efforts to provide an accessible website (with the goal of WCAG 2.1 level AA) are ongoing. If you encounter an accessibility issue or have a question, please contact our team by emailing contact@federationhss.ca or by leaving us a voicemail at 613-238-6112.
