Senior Advisor, EDID


Dhanela Sivaparan (she/her/hers) is the Senior Advisor, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Decolonization (EDID) with the Federation.

In this capacity, Dhanela advises the CEO and Federation leadership on various EDID initiatives, and leads the development of a multi-year plan to implement the recommendations outlined in “Igniting Change,” the final report of the Congress Advisory Committee on EDID.

Previously, Dhanela has held several management positions as EDI Specialist, Community Engagement Coordinator, Executive Director, Anti-Racism and Cultural Diversity Officer, and has served as Vice-President and Senior Policy Advisor on Labour Unions and Access Programs. She has also served as chair and board of director for over 20 post-secondary caucuses and committees, and was the recipient of the Ontario Lieutenant Governor’s Community Service Award and the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (IDERD) Impact Award, for her works on anti-racism education and inclusive schooling.  

Dhanela is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Toronto in the Department of Social Justice Education. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering with racialized youth organizations, local food banks, and Mentorship Alumni Associations, and hiking various Central Canada trails.
