The Canadian Association for Postcolonial Studies (CAPS, formerly CACLALS), founded in 1973, is the first and most established association in Canada devoted to specialized research and creative production in the field of postcolonial studies. The association brings together critics, scholars, teachers, students, and creative practitioners who share an interest in postcolonial and global literatures and oratures, as well as the versions of English they employ. Through its affiliation with ACLALS, the Association provides members with an international context for studying Canadian, postcolonial and global literatures and cultures within and beyond the framework of the Canadian academy. This year, our conference builds on the wider Congress theme of “Reckonings and Reimaginings.” As an association long dedicated to grappling with the legacies of colonial power and privileging postcolonial and decolonial work, CAPS looks forward to adding to the important conversations taking place at this year’s Congress meeting. Our conference also aims to privilege the work of burgeoning scholars, with our annual Graduate Student Plenary Prize Panel. All student submissions in response to our CFP are considered for this panel. We hope to see you this May at York University in Tkaronto/Toronto.
