What is the title of your Congress 2022 presentation?

Minor Transnationalism in Quebec Women’s Cinema: Diasporic Filmmaking Practices

How would you describe the research you will be presenting at Congress 2022?

In my presentation, I will explore how women filmmakers who come from francophone diasporic communities and live in Quebec navigate the contexts of production and distribution of Quebec cinema. I will discuss how these filmmakers propose approaches to filmmaking that put forward the fragmented experience of immigrant subjects from a gender-specific perspective.

How does the research you will be presenting connect with the Congress 2022 theme, Transitions

Drawing on transnational and decolonial theories, in my presentation I will examine the work of women directors that make an intervention into the collective imaginary of Quebec cinema, inviting us to envision a more inclusive understanding of women’s and feminist issues. Thus, my research is committed to Congress 2022’s scope of building a more diverse and democratic future.

Share your hopes for Congress 2022.

I hope to connect and exchange knowledge with a wide range scholars from all over Canada.
