The Federation is nominating outstanding candidates from our community for the 2026 Governor General’s Innovation Awards, and we’re seeking your recommendations.
The Governor General’s Innovation Awards celebrate excellence in innovation across all sectors of Canadian society and inspire Canadians, particularly Canadian youth, to be entrepreneurial innovators. As a community, the humanities and social sciences (HSS) have a role to play in advocating for innovative contributions in our disciplines.
ODARA, the Ontario Domestic Assault Risk Assessment, was the Federation’s nominee last year and was named a winner, bringing national attention to HSS innovation and the communities behind it. As a member, you have the opportunity to recommend a colleague, team, or initiative whose work deserves that same spotlight this year.
To review the nomination criteria and make a recommendation, please visit the Governor General’s Innovation Awards page on the Federation’s website and complete a recommendation form by September 29, 2025.
The HSS are an essential source of innovation, and we greatly appreciate your help in identifying colleagues whom we can recognize through these awards.
