The workshop invites interdisciplinary researchers in the humanities and social sciences to explore art-based research (ABR) methods. Particularly, strategically incorporate ABR to capture sensory memories in participatory community-based research. Using zine making as an exploratory method, the workshop will facilitate participants to consider the different senses involved in their research, and how the senses interact with each other during the process of sensemaking. This provides an opportunity for collective reflection and exploration of sensory methods in the humanities and social sciences. A focus on sensory memory and storytelling through art moves away from dominant knowledge systems. Sensory-based memory work contributes to the movement to challenge Eurocentric understandings of knowledge production and dissemination.
