Podcasting as Pedagogy and Practice in Knowledge Exchange and Mobilization
This interactive workshop introduces podcasting as an innovative and accessible approach to knowledge exchange and mobilization (KxM) in the humanities and social sciences. Drawing on The Knowledge Exchange: A Partnership-in-Action podcast as a case example, the session highlights how podcasting can connect research, practice, and community through collaborative, equity-oriented approaches. Participants will be introduced to key KxM principles, including accessibility, relational accountability, and power-sharing, and how these can be applied in podcast development. Presenters will outline practical considerations for creating a podcast, including identifying purpose and audience, engaging collaborators, navigating production, and addressing ethical considerations such as consent and shared ownership. Through a guided “Podcast Mapping” activity, participants will begin to conceptualize how podcasting may support their own research, teaching, or practice goals. The session will also include discussion on the possibilities and challenges of podcasting across diverse contexts. Attendees will receive a practical planning checklist to support future podcast development.
