As artificial intelligence reshapes classrooms, professional environments, and knowledge production, this session centers on the question: how can AI be integrated in ways that uphold equity, transparency, and human-centered learning in the humanities and social sciences? Led by Dr. Karine Coen-Sanchez, with Dr. Ian Wereley (CAGS) and Dinuka Gunaratne, the panel examines how AI intersects with fairness, creativity, and privacy. It explores key issues such as the impact of AI on student writing processes, the potential homogenization of knowledge, and persistent inequities in access and use. This session will benefit educators, researchers, administrators, and students seeking to critically engage with AI in academic contexts. Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of AI’s ethical and sociological implications, as well as practical insights for fostering responsible, inclusive, and human-centered approaches to its integration.
