Big Thinking at Congress 2018

Leadership and sustainable peacebuilding

In an era when insecurity is a daily reality for people in many parts of the world, what is the role women have in peacebuilding and in political processes? Alaa Murabit will address this important question when speaking to the linkages between local and national processes, as well as to the transformational coalition building, agenda setting and influencing that takes place when tackling insecurity. Her talk will focus on emerging security issues and on women’s local leadership that drives sustainable change. She will reflect on how strengthening the participation of women in peace and political processes has yielded results in her and other local and international activists’ work organizing for change.

Alaa Murabit, M.D., CEO, Omnis Institute, UN High-Level Commissioner on Health and Economic Growth, and UN Sustainable Development Goal Global Advocate
