Regenerative medicine (RM) is anticipated to offer transformative clinical potential and address diverse areas of unmet medical need. However, its rapid pace of innovation, coupled with global complexities and today’s misinformation environment, is challenging existing governance frameworks and creating risks of patient exploitation, inequity in access, and erosion of public trust. These ‘wicked’ policy problems require interdisciplinary collaboration and cross-sectoral partnership to inform development of strong and inclusive governance frameworks that can support scientific excellence, earn public trust, and facilitate ethical and equitable clinical translation. These were the objectives at the heart of a research project funded by Canada’s Stem Cell Network.  In this presentation, two of the Principal Investigators will present key themes from this project.
