In an era of political polarization, rising populism, and growing distrust in institutions, how can scholars and journalists effectively cover politics without fueling division or losing public trust? This discussion will explore the ethical and practical challenges of political debate in volatile times. We will discuss strategies for balancing objectivity and impact, navigating misinformation, and covering complex topics like equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in an increasingly fraught media landscape. The session will also examine the role of journalists in higher education and their responsibility to inform without inflaming.
