Illuminating Hope in Higher Education: A Dialogue with Luminaries at an Inflection Point
Christie Schultz, University of Regina
Higher education is at an inflection point—navigating resource constraints, contested legitimacy, and cultural fatigue—yet also brimming with ingenuity and public purpose. This session convenes a dialogue with “luminaries” from the newly launched Illuminating Hope in Higher Education project on the Academica Forum, curated by project leads Jessica Riddell (Bishop’s U), Christie Schultz (URegina), and Julie Peters (Academica). The series amplifies diverse voices and actionable strategies for cultivating hope across the sector, offering a timely conversation for institutions seeking renewal. Grounded in the concept of “hope as strategy,” this session explores how institutions can move from scarcity to abundance, from crisis response to human flourishing, and from isolated initiatives to networked change. Panelists will share concrete practices—curricular design, governance habits, and partnership models—that translate “critical hope” into action across disciplines and sectors.
