Antonia Maioni: Arts graduates are best prepared for the unexpected

An op-ed by Federation president Antonia Maioni in The Globe and Mail challenges the notion of the outdated BA. Maioni reflects on the contemporary, cross-disciplinary BA which offers students a solid preparation for the future of work.

SSHRC Impact Awards

SSHRC has announced the finalists for its Impact Awards, which recognize outstanding achievements among humanities and social science research that has received SSHRC funding. The finalists fall under four award categories: Talent, Insight, Connection and Partnership. The winner in each category will be announced November 3, 2014, along with the Gold Medal recipient.

Trudeau Fellowships

The Trudeau Foundation has  named three Trudeau Fellows: Myriam Denov (School of Social Work, McGill University), Evan Fraser (Department of Geography, University of Guelph) and Jason Edward Lewis (Department of Design and Computation Arts, Concordia University).

The fellowship reflects the Tudeau Foundation’s commitment to encouraging critical reflection and action in four areas important to Canadians: human rights and dignity, responsible citizenship, Canada’s role in the world, and people and their natural environment.

Transatlantic Science Week

Transatlantic Science Week will be taking place in Toronto, October 26-29, 2014. TSW is an annual trilateral science and innovation conference that promotes the collaboration between research, innovation, government, and business in Norway, Canada, and the United States. TSW provides a unique arena to facilitate critical dialogue and initiate new collaboration between key players with specific Arctic knowledge.
