About the Summit

The Federation’s Big Thinking Summit: Inflection Point will bring the humanities and social sciences (HSS) to the forefront. The Summit will take place from June 9 to 11 at the Edmonton Convention Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, and will feature programming under the following streams: Networks of change, Methods in motion, and Legitimacy at the edge. 

We're calling on academics, community partners, and policymakers from across the country to forge new collaborations and tackle these critical questions to advance the solutions that Canada urgently needs.

Calling all students 📢 The Big Thinking Summit is coming to Edmonton! 

Taking place from June 9 – 11, 2026, at the Edmonton Convention Centre, the Big Thinking Summit: Inflection Point brings the humanities and social sciences to the forefront, giving your ideas a stage to spark change as we explore new possibilities for Canada at the crossroads. 

You’ll encounter perspectives from across the humanities and social sciences (HSS), grounded in public life and community experience, from scholars, journalists, policy practitioners, and cultural and community leaders. 

Take advantage of discounted rates for students (proof of valid student ID required) and complimentary passes for Black and Indigenous students. Groups of 10+ and 20+ will also benefit from registration discounts of 5% and 10%, respectively.
