Dr. Andrea Lawlor is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and the Public Policy (Digital Society) program at McMaster University. Before joining McMaster, she was an Assistant and Associate Professor in the Department of Politics and International Relations at King’s University College at Western University. She holds a PhD (2014) from McGill University in Political Science and a MSL (2018) and PhD (2025) from Western University’s Faculty of Law.
Dr. Lawlor specializes in the study of Canadian public policy, public opinion, as well as administrative and election law, including third party regulation in Canadian federal elections. Her work has appeared in Canadian and international venues including the Canadian Journal of Political Science, the Journal of Social Policy, and the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, among others. In addition to her academic research, Dr. Lawlor has provided expert witness guidance to the Ontario Superior Court, the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Federal Court of Canada on matters of election and constitutional law. She has also provided methodological support and analysis to a variety of intergovernmental organizations and not-for-profit groups including the World Health Organization during COVID-19.
