What are the characteristics of a strong, feasible grant application? What grant-writing strategies can you use to show a review committee that your project is worth funding? In this presentation, Dr. Letitia Henville—the author of University Affairs' monthly advice column Ask Dr. Editor—will share evidence-based best practices for research grant proposals, with a focus on the SSHRC Insight, Partnership and Connection funding programs for faculty. She'll also show you the behind-the-scenes of how she sets up a grant application for success before the writing even starts. Bring your questions for a Q&A at the end of the presentation.

Letitia Henville (she/her), PhD, is a book nerd, a bad swimmer and editor of academic writing. She writes the monthly academic writing advice column "Ask Dr. Editor." Her resources for academics can be found at shortishard.com; in June 2022, she launched writingwellishard.com, a free comparative text analysis tool to empower academic writers to make informed choices about how they convey their ideas.

University Affairs is Canada’ higher education magazine published 4 times a year featuring news, information and career advice for post-graduates, faculty, and senior administrators as well as Canada’s most comprehensive academic job listing service.
