Luminous Trails @ Congress - Day 1
Led by Digital Media alumni and sibling power team Amir and Elahe Rostami, and Professor Joel Ong and facilitated through AMPD’s Year of the Arts, the project Luminous Traces @ Congress is an interactive augmented reality experience that explores the intersections of collective lived memory, encounters in public spaces, and the emotional landscapes of York University. Participants to Congress are encouraged to create virtual trails as they navigate the grounds of York University When trails cross paths, the intersections are visualized as bodies of water and ceremonial landmarks. The application invites visitors to gather over these bodies of water as places for introspection and virtual encounters. This provides meaningful space for a conversational approach to the landmarks and events that are transpiring over the course of Congress. Premiered at Nuit Blanche 2022, the work received more than 3000 downloads in one night and was on the top 5 iPhone apps global listing in Oct 2022.
