With financial support from the Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences’ International Keynote Speakers Support Fund. Black, Indigenous, and people of colour who are cultural heritage practitioners and community-oriented multidisciplinary researchers are critically and innovatively responding to systemic racism and other discriminatory structures informing practices in GLAMs. Through presentations and moderated discussion, our panellists look at how these structures continue to impact memory work, and the challenges of navigating the environment these systems create for users. The session also highlights the panellists’ distinctive reparative approaches to decentering and resisting whiteness in book history, archives, bibliography, and special collections. The event will be broadcasted with Live Closed Captioning in English.
